Women on Wheels (WOW)

Fishing Club
The Pukehina Fishing Club’s primary purpose is to foster fellowship among the fishing fraternity of the Pukehina Beach community.

This is a small, active and friendly club focused on family fishing activities and tournaments throughout the year. Members welcomed. Website: https://pukfishclub.co.nz

Surf Club
Pukehina Surf Lifesaving Club is a voluntary organisation, which is very active. The HQ is at the northern end of Pukehina Parade.

Lifeguards are on duty most of the summer and the club has effective rescue equipment. Emergency contact on 07 533 3934.

Pukehina Potaes Friendship Club (ex Red Hat Club)
For ladies over 50 to enjoy a lunch outing on the second Monday of every month. Dress Code – Purple clothes and a Red Hat, or if you’re under 50 please wear Purple clothes and a Pink Hat. No Committees, No Minutes, Just a social outing. Contact Michelle North mnorth052@gmail.com

Pukehina Ramblers
Walking Group for Men and Women. Mondays at 9 am all year, though we do not always walk Public Holiday Mondays. Meet – The Store, Pukehina Parade. Aim – To walk 6 km or an hour. Sometimes we make walks off the Beach so please phone. Contact Glenda Walker 0274732943

Taoist Tai Chi Society
Internal Arts of Health – Restoring and Maintaining Natural Health. Daytime or evening classes available at Te Puke Memorial Hall. For further information about the Society visit: www.taoist.org.nz

Indoor Bowling
The Pukehina Indoor Bowling club meet for a friendly game of bowls on Wednesday evenings in the Pukehina Community Hall at 7.20 pm, for a 7.30 start. Regular or casual players are very welcome. Even bring along your casual visitors, (does not matter if they have never played before) a good opportunity to try yours and their hand at a new sport. No subscription required, just a nightly door charge of $4.00 per player. The Wednesday nights bowls will most likely continue over the summer months if there is sufficient numbers interested. PUKEHINA BEACH ATV BIKE OBLIGATIONS
Registration & Obligations

Please note this registration is for the use of vehicles on Pukehina Beach only. By law Quad / ATV and Motorcycles are not allowed to be used on New Zealand Roads or beaches without New Zealand Government registration.

Pukehina Beach comes under the control of the Bay of Plenty Regional Council whose rules can be found here: Bay Of Plenty Council Vehicles On Beaches. Maximum vehicle size allowed is 1000kg and engine size maximum of 1000cc

Use only designated beach access ways suitable for quad/ATV access and keep speed and revving of engine to a minimum

  • Minimal speed on roads

  • Speed on beach not to endanger other users

  • Restrict beach driving within housing area to max 15kph

  • No riding within one meter of high tide mark

  • No riding on any sand dune planting area

  • No passengers unless vehicle is equipped for it

NOTE – MOTOR BIKES (2-WHEELER) ARE NOT ALLOWED ON PUKEHINA BEACH/ESTUARY

Local Council has allowed Pukehina residents to drive quad bikes and ATV vehicles on the beach provided their vehicle is registered with the Pukehina Ratepayers’ & Residents’ Association. Please abide by the rules and protect our beautiful beaches.

REMEMBER THE ABILITY TO RIDE ON OUR BEACH IS A PRIVILEGE NOT A RIGHT

Safety and environment
There is a need to manage the safety and environmental issues linked to quad bike access to and from the beach.

PBRA has agreed to be proactive and adhere to the set of obligations and guidelines, so we can continue to enjoy having bike access.

Bikes are numbered for reasons of identification, safety and protection of the beach and the dunes as agreed by the Western Bay of Plenty District Council.
